What is Montessori?
Experts believe that children begin to develop cognitive skills at a very young age—essentially right at birth. Guided by this concept, Lotus Montessori creates a prepared environment that considers the unique learning needs of a child. It offers an avenue to explore, build, and hone the child’s character, skills, and craft.
Montessori is the educational method founded by Maria Montessori, a respected Italian doctor, philosopher, and educator. She discovered that hands-on learning, self-help activity, and collaborative play, facilitate the child’s growth and development. As such, she demonstrated experiential education as the key to reaching the child’s maximum potential.
The Montessori Classroom
In a Montessori classroom, the educator creates a safe space and a carefully curated environment. Each setting answers the specific needs of your child in each age range. The children learn individually and in groups to gain a better understanding of key concepts like language, music, mathematics, and more.
The prepared environment utilizes resources that are consistent with the Montessori Philosophy. These materials correlate to the child's interests and the activities that match their character and capabilities. It fosters self-learning at a pace comfortable for them, helping solidify their foundation.
In this long day care environment, every piece of material in the prepared environment can serve a profound purpose. They are aesthetically eye-catching, precious, and at times fragile to train the child to handle them with care and respect.
The Montessori Curriculum
The Lotus Montessori implements the discipline’s curriculum, which serves as the blueprint for each student’s individualized education. As educators, our role is to implement the Montessori curriculum and positively influence your child to achieve key learning outcomes.
There are core areas wherein children learn via relevant activities and interact with objects and fellow children . Educators observe the child's progress and intervene if necessary. This setup ensures that the child becomes self-confident and independent, empowering them to handle tasks on their own.
