Montessori and EYLF
Montessori and EYLF
Lotus Montessori educators follow the Early Years Learning Framework or EYLF to provide holistic learning. This guideline works seamlessly with the Montessori curriculum, shaping the child’s development in their early formative years.
The EYLF guides educational professionals in crafting teaching strategies that support the transition from early childcare to primary school. It promotes coordination with children families in identifying the capabilities and interests of the child. This framework respects the three Bs of learning: Being, Belonging, and Becoming.
The Montessori curriculum provides the fundamental foundation that enhances the EYLF. Both approaches share the goal of nurturing the holistic development of learners. They believe that children can reach their maximum potential by creating a safe, supportive, and comprehensive learning environment.
The Montessori Curriculum and ELYF—Working in Sync
These two educational methods are linked in more ways than one, such as:
- Children have a strong sense of identity. Every learner is free to express their curiosity and creativity, teaching them independence and a deeper sense of identity.
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world. Every child is empowered by the prepared environment, encouraging self-correcting experiences.
- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing. The strong educational foundation introduced in these systems fosters the child’s well-being.
- Children are confident and involved learners. The practical life skills taught in Montessori help learners understand concepts of diversity and social responsibility.
- Children are effective communicators. Lotus Montessori promotes effective communication and social skills, inculcating the values of respect, courtesy, and politeness.
